If you are looking for pristine scenic back roads, Halifax County is the place for you. Halifax County has beautiful lakes, the mighty Roanoke River, beautiful farms, unique small towns, parks and historic places. Here are 4 good bicycling routes and reasons to come enjoy. We have many more. Since we are on the transition between the Piedmont and Coastal Plain we have rides with gently rolling hills and flat terrain.

•       Weldon Riverside Mill to Historic Halifax 17 Miles - This ride starts at the unique Riverside Mill in Weldon, rides through Weldon’s quaint downtown and on to Historic Halifax home of the 1776 Halifax Resolves. It then rides back to Weldon via the beautiful Roanoke River rapids at River Falls Park.

•       Roanoke Rapids to Halifax 25 Mile LoopThis loop starts at the TJ Davis Recreation Center in Roanoke Rapids, goes to Historic Halifax and then back to Roanoke Rapids with a ride by the beautiful rapids at River Falls Park in Weldon.

•       Historic Halifax to Sylvan Heights Bird Park Loop 41.7 miles -This ride begins at the Historic Halifax Visitor's Center and goes to the unique town of Scotland Neck and the world-renowned Sylvan Heights Bird Park.  It returns to Halifax via the historic Tillery Re-Settlement Community Center and Museum. The terrain on this Coastal Plain ride is flat.

•       Roanoke Rapids to Littleton – Medoc Mountain – Historic Halifax Metric Century – This Metric Century Loop (62 miles) starts at TJ Davis Rec Center, goes to Littleton, then by Panacea Springs on the way to Medoc Mountain State Park. After skirting Medoc Mountain State Park the route heads to Historic Halifax and then by the scenic rapids at River Falls Park in Weldon and then back to Roanoke Rapids. The terrain on this ride has generally gently rolling hills and flat sections.
