Roanoke Valley Swim Team’s Rockfish
Attraction

In fact, “RVST Rocks!” is their team motto, and the team mascot is the Rockfish. The team recently revealed a beautiful mural of fish under water, painted by local artist and swim team mom Jenna Fromal, on the wall of the TJ Davis Recreation Center outdoor pool deck area and released their official Roanoke Valley Rockfish named Bruce. Jenna Fromal was also the artist for Bruce, who is painted in shades of purple, the RVST color.

The RVST is now a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, striving to have fun, swim our hearts out, and work on building strong kids, strong parent involvement, and most of all, a strong team. The parents and kids of the RVST want to say a huge thanks to the Nash-Halifax Swim League, head coach Josh Curley & assistant coach Jordan Sawyer, all of our sponsors, the City of Roanoke Rapids Parks & Recreation Department, and Halifax County Tourism for helping us make it all come together! The Roanoke Valley Swim Team is dedicated to developing and motivating swimmers at all levels. We support the sport of competitive swimming by teaching proper technique, physical fitness, and instilling the spirit of sportsmanship. Our social developmental philosophy for swimmers includes personal accountability, individual goal setting and self discipline. The Roanoke Valley Swim Team is a parent-run swim team and recognizes the contribution of all of its members while striving to maintain athletic excellence in a supportive team environment. We also recognize that having a swim team in our neighborhood will foster an increased sense of community and allow families to participate together in a group activity for the betterment of both the children and our neighborhood. The RVST practices four times a week and competes during the months of June and July.
