The evening celebrates NC’s oyster season with all-you-can-eat oysters and shrimp, as well as non-seafood and vegetarian dishes. Proceeds from ticket sales support the park’s conservation and education programs, but the Oyster Roast also helps the birds in a much more immediate way. After the event, the discarded oyster shells will be collected, cleaned, and placed in the aviaries to provide an important source of calcium for many of the park’s feathered residents throughout the breeding season.
