Seeking Liberty in Halifax

Historic Halifax State Historic Site will unveil the new exhibit, “Seeking Liberty in Halifax”. This traveling exhibit highlights the experiences of African Americans in early North Carolina and will explore the search for liberty from the Halifax Resolves to the Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. Visitors will also have a chance to view Harriet Tubman - The Journey to Freedom, a bronze statue by North Carolina Artist, Wesley Wofford which depicts Harriet Tubman conducting a young girl to freedom. The statue will only be on display in Halifax through April 18th. Admission to Historic Halifax State Historic site is free to the public. Additionally, the site will be offering an optional guided tour package of three of the site’s historic buildings for $5.00 per person. Those who prefer to explore Historic Halifax from the comfort of their home, are invited to visit the Historic Halifax Facebook page on April 10th to find links the to the site’s new virtual field trip, which will also debut during the event.
