The Calling

The Calling is A Rock & Fortress Production written by multi-talented Jametrice Alston Jones, playwright and owner of 4 Girls and a Comb Salon in Warrenton, NC. Her previous production in 2023, "God Over Everything" sold out shows at Lakeland Cultural Arts Center and now she's ready to showcase her talents and second live play to a larger audience. Jones describes the play as a story about a winding road to redemption in which the main character, Lily Gail, who experiences a spiritual calling on her life, faces insurmountable challenges separating her from her family, the church and her entire life as she once knew it or dreamed it to be.
Jones says she was brought up in church and had to step out on her own faith and belief in God by building her own relationship with Jesus Christ. In a recent interview with Terry Alston Jones, she's quoted as saying “As I got older, maybe about 17 years ago, and I started to face certain things, I realized I couldn’t keep always running back to Momma and Daddy about things, and that is when I formed my own relationship with God, and that is when I started writing gospel plays.”
