Progressions Dance Center rocked the Roanoke Valley and continues to in more ways than one. "Encore," signature rockfish of Progressions Dance Center designed and painted by Kelly and Emma Barber, made her debut. Encore represents Progressions Dance Center through her color scheme and attire. She is a true “show fish,” sporting a wonderful leotard and tutu in the Progressions colors, turquoise and black. Encore is always ready to hit the stage with her full makeup! Encore literally has stars in her eyes and has been fed a steady diet of music and love with notes and hearts painted in her mouth. She has been “tagged” with the Progressions logo on her tailfin. Progressions Dance Center is owned and operated by Chelsea Davis Jernigan, a native of the Roanoke Valley who has been dancing since the age of two. A graduate of Meredith College with a B.A. in Dance Education, as well as a K-12 NC Teaching License, Chelsea has studied ballet, tap, clogging, lyrical, jazz and modern dance. She says, "Dance is my passion; let me help make it yours!" Chelsea’s goal is to teach that passion for dance to children and adolescents through the staff’s creativity and professionalism. The staff of Progressions Dance Center is committed to providing students with a safe, fun, and nurturing environment that is carefully managed to encourage personal growth and the development of self-confidence, self-discipline and respect for self and others. The staff takes an age-appropriate approach to the types of movement they teach, the styles of costumes students wear, and the type of music they play. Progressions offers Mommy & Me classes for 2 year-olds, Combo Ballet & Tap classes for dancers age 3-12, as well as Clogging, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical for students ages 13 and up.
