This past September, Amanda Lynn and Stacie Edwards rallied together to raise awareness for mental health in the Roanoke Valley. They held a Fragrance Flower fundraiser and used those funds to purchase a “rockfish” from the Halifax County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The rockfish was “launched” on December 16 and is a memorial dedicated to the late Anthony Taylor and Rachel Bass and others that have lost their lives to suicide. The rockfish can be found at Roanoke Valley Psychiatric Associates located at 321 NC Hwy 125 in Roanoke Rapids. Lynn and Edwards are very thankful for this business’ support and also held a Mental Health Awareness Day for the Weldon community on September 26, 2020. $1,200 was donated to Roanoke Valley Psychiatric Associates to help patients cover medical expense copays, etc. Lynn and Edwards wish to express how grateful they are to the Roanoke Valley community for helping get this awareness started and hope to continue this effort in 2021.
